Letter From Board about Hurricane Harvey 08-31-17
Dear Community Members,
During these blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah, we urge you to take action to relieve the suffering and loss from the unprecedented flooding around Houston from Hurricane Harvey. Search, rescue and shelter efforts to save lives are still continuing and many charity organizations are on the ground providing critical relief services and supplies, and deserve our involvement and support.
Please remember the people of these communities in your prayers — may Allah ease their suffering. Please also donate with kindness and generosity to charities working directly with those affected. Here are some examples for your consideration:
Islamic Society of Greater Houston – 21 mosques serving flood victims
Disasters such as these know no ideology, nationality or status. Millions in South Asia are also currently suffering from extreme floods, please remember them too in your prayers and donations. Here in Southern California, as we prepare for the Day of Arafah and Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, let us be grateful, humble and full of kindness for our fellow Americans and for those around the world who are enduring loss and displacement.
May Allah accept from all of us our prayers and charity.
