Dahlia Hamdi: AIM Academy School Director

Dahlia has been a member of the Irvine Community for over six years and has been a part of AIM Academy since she arrived. She has worked as a Teacher for both Quran and Islamic Studies with students of all ages. Dahlia will receive her Bachelor’s Degree in 2019 from California State University-Fullerton with a major in Childhood and Adolescent Development. Utilizing up to date educational tools and creating a welcoming school environment for every AIM student is essential for a successful school program. Sarah Larbah: Administrative Assistant

Sarah Larbah has been a member of the ICOI community for 14 years now and comes with experience in both academic and office settings. During the regular week, she is an elementary school educator however, she can often be found in the ICOI office on Fridays and during Ramadan assisting in the night-to-night happenings. She has also helped put on the ICOI Youth Group and Annual Youth Retreat Program from 2007-2016. When not working, she enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with family, and watching a good movie.

Omaya Saad: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher

Omaya was born and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. She graduated from Beirut Arab University with a B.S. in Physics. She then began teaching Quran, Arabic, and math in Beirut. When Omaya moved to America, she continued teaching at Al-Hedayah Academy in Fort Worth, Texas. A few years later, she got married, moved to California, and had three wonderful children. Omaya attended weekly Quran recitation and Tajweed classes at Al- Ansar Mosque. She has also attended various seminars and workshops for Arabic and Quran. Assil Alsharifi: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher

My name is Assil Alsharifi .To tell you a  little about myself, I was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. I moved to the United States of America at the age of eighteen and studied Biology at the University of Kentucky. I’ve been married for twenty nine years and have four beautiful children. I started teaching Arabic sixteen years ago at Berlitz Language Center, then moved on to teach at Pillars Academy for ten years.  I also taught Arabic at New Horizon Islamic School and Quest Prep Academy for two years. Shaimaa Ahmed: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher

Ms. Shaimaa Ahmed has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Ain Shams University, Egypt in 2006. She has also earned a Diploma in Teacher Preparation from the same University in 2007. Between 2008 and 2010, Ms. Ahmed has been teaching Arabic Language and History in middle school and high school in Egypt. In 2010, she moved to Virginia, USA where she enrolled in a Master degree of Arts in Education in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. She earned this degree in Oct 2013, specialized in Education Technology and Curriculum and Instructional Design. In 2014, she moved to Irvine, CA where she started her professional career as an Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies teacher in several weekend schools in the Orange County area. She is currently a part-time teacher of Arabic and Quran at Al Kawthar Learning Center, Arabic teacher in the Minaret Academy Saturday School, and an Arabic and Quran teacher in the Aim Academy Sunday School.

Salwa Setaboha: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher

My name is Salwa Setaboha, I started teaching Arabic and Quran  with ICOI since 2017. Teaching the words of Allah and their meaning is a passion of mine. It also falls under my values and responsibilities to share the knowledge and pass it to the new generation. I teach Sunday School because I love watching kids start learning about the Quran, worship, and praying as they start their faith journey. Their energy and inquisitiveness is so much fun. My time with them is one of the highlights of my week!

Roqayah Hamdi: Islamic Studies Teacher

Roqayah Hamdi is approaching her third year with Aim Academy. She began working with Aim Academy as a Quran/Arabic Teacher’s Assistant and is now a 2nd, 7th and 8th grade Islamic studies teacher. She studied tajweed for three years with a certified tajweed teacher. Roqayah is also certified to teach the tajweed rule, Al Noorania. She studied three levels of classical Arabic in Egypt and continues to study the language of the Quran at ICOI. Roqayah is also an avid ICOI volunteer and continuously attends various masjid events throughout the OC. Roqayah studied at the Irvine Valley College where she also served as the Muslim Student Association (MSA) president for the 2016-2017 semester. Currently, Roqayah is attending a local University to pursue her dream of becoming a civil rights/immigrant advocate. Roqayah is a self-proclaimed environmentalist and enjoys horseback riding, going to the beach, and trying new foods. You can reach Roqayah at roqayah@icoi.net

Sabah Awarki: Islamic Studies Teacher

Sabah graduated from the Lebanese American University of Beirut in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. In 2001, Sabah moved to the United States and settled in California, where she attended Orange Coast College and completed many childhood education classes. Between 2009 and 2015, Sabah taught Arabic and Islamic studies in Pillars Academy weekend school in Mission Viejo, California. In 2014, Sabah joined AIM Academy as a teacher assistant, and she is currently the Islamic Studies teacher for first and fourth grade. Sabah is married and has three boys ages 10, 11, and 15. In her free time, Sabah enjoys hiking and watching movies. Sabah can be reached at sabah@icoi.net

Sara Nasla: Islamic Studies Teacher

Sara Nasla began her time at AIM Academy in 2015 as a volunteer. Last year, she worked as a Teaching Assistant and now she is the Islamic Studies teacher for 3rd and 6th graders. Sara will be graduating high school in June of this year and plans to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in college. Sara has been an active member of her high school’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) for four years, the last two years as president of the club. She was also a board member of Southern California High School Muslim Student Association (SoCal HSMSA) for two years. Nagib Hamideh: Islamic Studies Teacher

Nagib Hamideh is in his second year with AIM Academy teaching Islamic Studies. He grew up in Los Angeles and studied Political Science at the University of California, Irvine where he first came into contact with the Irvine Muslim community. He was an active member of the Muslim Student Union at UCI where he learned a great amount in community work, responsibility, and the importance of surrounding yourself with good company. Nagib is currently enrolled as a full time student in the Institute of Knowledge Seminary program and plans to apply for graduate school soon in sha Allah. Nagib can be reached at hamid@icoi.net
