The following is a list of services that the Islamic Center of Irvine provides:

Jumu'ah Prayer

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Friday, September 5, 2014:

There will be no access to the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association’s parking lot.

ICOI will have one prayer service with very limited parking at ICOI + some at Our Lady of Peace Korean Church with shuttles.

This will accommodate only one-third (1000 people) of our regular attendees.

• ICOI prayer service will start at 1:30 p.m.

Alternate accommodations with Tustin Masjid:

2 prayers at Tustin Masjid (capacity of 300 people per prayer) and Irvine Lanes (capacity of 675 people per prayer)

• PRAYER TIMINGS: 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

o 5 Freeway North, exit Tustin Ranch Rd.

o Left on Tustin Ranch Rd.

Directions from ICOI:

o Take Roosevelt to Jeffrey

o 405 Freeway North, exit Culver Dr.

o Left on Culver

o Right on Michelson (On the corner of Michelson and Harvard)

Everyone is encouraged to carpool.

PLEASE NOTE:

Starting Friday, September 12, ICOI will be holding two Friday prayer services. Parking is available (starting September 12th) in the ICOI and Chinese Cultural Center parking lots. Please do not park in the lots of the neighboring businesses or apartments as we are not allowed to park there. Vehicles found parked at the neighboring businesses or apartments are subject to towing.

Professional Counseling Services
At this time, ICOI does not offer counseling services on-site. However, the following individuals or agencies provide (for a fee) culturally-sensitive counseling to our community members:

English Classes
In partnership with the South Coast Literacy Counsel, ICOI offers ESL classes every Tuesday at 6:00 pm. For more information please contact the office or attend class to register.

Youth Group
The youth group is for boys and girls ages 12-18. While the Youth Group normally meets Friday evenings, there are occasions where the Youth Group will meet on the weekends for projects / field trips. Please sign up for the weekly e-newsletter, which goes out on Mondays, to receive information regarding Youth Group weekly events. Event details are also announced after both Juma. For more information on specific activities and program details, please contact the youth group at youth.icoi@gmail.com.

Community Services

Nikkah/Kitaab Services
ICOI offers Nikkah/Kitaab services at the center.  In order to hold your Nikkah/Kitaab at ICOI, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Must obtain a marriage license from the county and must provide a copy of the marriage certificate.
  2. Must provide a copy of a valid photo ID (drivers' license or passport).
  3. One wali (guardian) for the bride and two witnesses must be present.
  4. Must fill out a Facility Request Form to reserve a date four weeks prior to the marriage ceremony.
  5. An appointment must be made with Shaykh Jamaal Diwan three weeks prior to the marriage ceremony.
  6. $200 donation payable to ICOI (no one will be turned away due to lack of funds).   
  7. If the party is under 75 people, it will be held in the MPR.
  8. If the part is above 75 people, it will be held in the Main Prayer Hall.  If held in the Main Prayer Hall, clothing must be appropriate, and sisters must be covered properly.

Usage of ICOI Facilities
Please review the Facilities Usage Policy before filling out a request form. By filling out the request form, you agree that you have read and will abide by the policy.

Committees

The ICOI Board of Directors has established a group of committees which will enable to community to help with various activities at ICOI.  The committees are as follows:

Education:
The purpose of this committee is to enhance the community's Islamic education and knowledge through a curriculum of of diverse classes and instructors.

Publications:
The purpose of this committee is to create all marketing material for ICOI events (both print and web).  The committee will also be responsible for publishing a quarterly magazine and monthly newsletter.

Youth:
The purpose of this committee is to enhance and maintain youth involvement at the Islamic Center of Irvine.

Special Events:
The purpose of this committee is to revive and renew inspiration of Faith through innovative programs utilizing local/high profile figures.

Fundraising:
The purpose of this committee is to develop and run fundraising campaigns for the Islamic Center of Irvine.

Tech:
The purpose of this committee is to setup and maintain all technological aspects of the Islamic Center of Irvine and its events.

Outreach:
The purpose of this committee is to promote a positive image of Islam in the community by fostering mutual understanding and appreciation among all faith communities.
