Project Sponsorship Opportunities
With efforts to keep ICOI's mission and vision alive, the ICOI Board has authorized various enhancement projects for the 2008/1429 calendar year and we have listed them below for your information. We are calling upon all community members to contribute to a specific project. Each project mentioned below is to improve the ICOI experience for generations to come. As soon as sufficient funds have been collected we can begin moving forward on the projects.
Sound System Enhancements: High Priority
The current sound system at ICOI has caused issues in the past, and still requires improvement in many areas. The Board wants to have all sound issues resolved as soon as possible and definitely before Ramadan Insha'Allah. We are seeking funds now to bring in Professional Sound Engineers to survey ICOI and its existing audio equipment setup. Following the survey a plan of action and proposal will be provided to ICOI for changes that should be made. Estimated cost: $24,000.
Building/Maintenance: High Priority
We have plans to overhaul and do something great with the fountain area and convert this into a much more useful space that would better serve the needs of the community. We are currently in discussion with a construction company on how to best re-purpose the space and explore design and construction options. Estimated costs for this project will be provided later, however we need to start collecting funds now whilst we are in the planning phase.
Equipment for Recording/Broadcasting: Medium Priority
If you have attended Jummah prayer at ICOI since the beginning of 2008, you would have noticed that we have begun recording all khutbah's. Our plan is to become self sufficient and continue to release all future khutbah's along with the notes on our website, Insha'Allah. We don't want to stop at just khutbah's. The ICOI Tech Committee has plans on holding live webcasts of our future events. We also have an archive of past events that were recorded and we'd like to make these available both online and on DVD. In order to accomplish this task we will need to upgrade the centers internet connection, invest in the purchase of a semi-professional video camera, tripod, computer and professional editing equipment, software and various supporting components. Estimated cost: $8000
Aesthetic Enhancements: Low Priority
Last year we had a few projects to beautify the inside of the main prayer hall with a touch up of paint, Islamic Art and Qur'anic verses. We'd like to continue these aesthetic enhancements this year in other areas of the prayer hall.
We are fortunate to be part of such a thriving Muslim community in Southern California. Each of you has helped ICOI grow in some way since the center first opened in August 2004. We are looking for sponsors for the projects mentioned above. If you would like to sponsor a specific project please send us your donation and specify which project(s) the funds are for.
