"Surely, Allah commands justice and Goodness under all circumstances."
(al-Qur'an 16:90)
Reflecting on the reality ...
- A billion Muslims world-wide and over 7 million of these call US their home
- Islam not foreign religion, it was on these shores before Columbus and many of the slaves from Africa were Muslim as is clearly evident from the work of Alex Haley's "ROOTS"
- Islamic duty of 'amr bil-ma'roof wan-nahy 'an-il munkar (commanding right and forbidding wrong)(Qur'an 3:110)
- The duty of repelling evil with good (Quran Ha Mim:34)
- Condemnation of horrific acts on September 11th, 2001
- Islam promotes justice, fair-dealing, respect and tolerance
The Lessons we learnt from this tragedy ...
- The need to be an integral part of the societies we live in
- Civil rights are often ignored and civil liberties violated. Be ever a proponent for Justice, not only when we are victims
- Religious bigots would use this opportunity to undermine the faith of the victimized by demonizing the faith
- Insensitive reporting and bias of the media contributes to a mood of public hysteria and fear
- No one defines Islam for us, neither the terrorists, nor the media nor religious extremists with crusader mentalities
Reflection of the Hour
Beliefs contained in the hearts are not known to others, but behavior is observable.
