Mehnaz Piracha: School Director

Mehnaz Piracha was born and raised in Pakistan. She completed her Masters in Economics from University of Karachi in 1999. After moving to the United States, she completed her Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education and is currently working with Irvine Unified School District as a special aid. She also holds California’s Director’s Permit. She has worked with children for over 12 years in different settings, including Stanford University as a Preschool Program specialist. She was a PTA President at Deerfield Elementary and was on the Irvine council board as a Reflections Chair in 2013. She is married with three children and resides in Irvine with her husband. When free, Mehnaz likes to read, paint, and do yoga. She has been the Director of AIM Academy for the past three years. She can be reached at

Adita Arya

Adita Arya: AIM Academy Founder and Curriculum Coordinator

Adita Arya holds an M.S. in Educational Leadership, a B.S. in Biology, and she is credentialed to teach science to middle and high school in CA. Along with community stakeholders, she founded AIM Academy in 2013. She is also president and co-founder of Afghan Literacy Foundation, an organization that prevents children from being forced into child labor in Afghanistan. Previously, she was the director of Pillars Academy. Adita is happily married to Hany Bashandy, and they have 3 boys and a daughter. She loves to increase her knowledge of Islam, hike, read, and watch movies. Adita can be reached at

Nur Mirza

Nur Mirza: Administrative Assistant
Nur Mirza recently graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Neurobiology and Behavior, as well as a minor in Spanish. She plans to eventually pursue a career in medicine, and has previously volunteered and served on the leadership team for the Health Scholar program at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and Irvine. Nur has worked as a teaching assistant, Qur’an teacher, and Islamic Studies teacher during the first two years at AIM Academy, and has tutored children of various ages and in various subjects in the past. She has been a student of Al-Maghrib Institute and regularly attended halaqat held by the Muslim Student Union at UCI. She has served a AIM Academy’s administrative assistant for the past year. Omaya Saad: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher
Omaya was born and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. She graduated from Beirut Arab University with a B.S. in Physics. She then became a teacher in Beirut, teaching Quran, Arabic, and math. When she moved to America, she continued teaching at Al- Hedayah Academy in Fort Worth, Texas. Few years later, she got married, moved to California, and had three wonderful children. Omaya attended weekly Quran recitation and Tajweed classes at Al- Ansar Mosque. This year she is excited to join Aim Academy, ICOI weekend program as a quranic studies teacher. Nada Negm: Qur’an & Arabic Studies Teacher
Nada Negm graduated from New York City College in 2012 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Biology Education. She then enrolled in Al-Noor Quran Institution in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to pursue a 4 year online program teaching the theory and practice of tajweed. She is now a certified tajweed teacher.  Nada has taught Quran to different ages and in many different capacities – as a youth camp leader for the MAS center in Brooklyn (NY), as a halaqa leader at Masged Ibrahim in Austin (TX) and as a home teacher in Austin and here in Orange County. Her goal as a Quran teacher is to plant the seeds of love for the Quran in her student’s hearts and to spur them on their own paths of learning. Nada is very excited to be joining AIM academy and looks forward to have successful year with her amazing students. Nada is married and a mother of two boys, Abdurrahman and Abdullah. Dahlia Hamdi: Qur’an Teacher
Dahlia Hamdi is a student at Irvine Valley College where she is working towards a degree in Education. She is simultaneously studying at Islamic Online University founded by Dr. Bilal Philips. She studied classical arabic in Egypt, and is continuing her Arabic studies at ICOI. Some of her favorite subjects are: Tajweed, Arabic and Child Development.Dahlia has experience teaching and tutoring children of all ages. One of her goals is to provide children with a positive learning experience when learning about Islam. She is keen on promoting a relationship between the children and Allah that keeps them connected to Him, and His Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Dahlia can be reached at

Sabah Awarki: Islamic Studies Teacher
Sabah graduated from the Lebanese American University of Beirut in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. In 2001, Sabah moved to the United States and settled in California, where she attended Orange Coast College and completed many childhood education classes. Between 2009 and 2015, Sabah taught Arabic and Islamic studies in Pillars Academy weekend school in Mission Viejo, California. In 2014, Sabah joined AIM Academy as a teacher assistant, and she is currently the Islamic Studies teacher for first and fourth grade. Sabah is married and has three boys ages 10, 11, and 15. Khwaja Umar AhmedKhwaja Umar Ahmed: Islamic Studies Teacher

Khwaja Ahmed graduated UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in History. He is a passionate community organizer and researcher working to develop the Muslim community. Having done work with various institutes, he plans to mix his academic studies with his on-the-ground work. Over the years, he has attended halaqat hosted by UCI alumni, California Islamic University (CIU), and ICOI. Additionally, he has taught halaqat at UCI and is very motivated to help develop the newer generation. He joined AIM Academy in 2016, and is looking forward to continuing this year. Aziz AbdullaAziz Abdulla: Teaching Assistant

Aziz Abdulla is a currently a senior at Northwood High School. He previously studied at Pillars Academy weekend school in Mission Viejo, California. After graduating from Pillars Academy, he started volunteering at AIM Academy in 2015. Currently, he is a teaching assistant who enjoys working with both students and teachers.
