al-Anaam (111- 165)
- Eat of the good things Allah has provided, mentioning His name over that which we eat (118,146); follow Divine Guidance (125), adhere to the Straight Path (126) and be conscious of the yawm-ul - hashr /Day of Gathering (128) always doing the best we can (135).
- Condemnation of superstitious pagan customs in vogue at the time of the Prophet such as human sacrifice and burying of female children alive (136-144)
- Treat orphans with justice, be equitable in all your economic dealings, fulfill your contracts (152) ?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ this is My way, the Straight Path, so follow it (113)
- Do not divide among yourselves into contending sects (159), do good and it will be rewarded tenfold while punishment is according to the extent of the wrong done (160)?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ this is the Way of Allah, the way of Prophet Muhammad and Abraham (161) and say ?¢‚Ǩ¬¶Surely, my prayer, my services of sacrifice, my life and my death are for Allah (163)
This Makkan surah deals primarily with matters of the history of Prophets, revlations and how the plan of Allah unfolds through time.
- The surah begins with the injunction to follow the Divine Guidance (3), to reflect on the history of previous corrupt communities who were destroyed (4-6), and certainty of human accountability on the Day of Judgement (6-9)
- Earth is our domicile for a little while and Allah has granted us means of survival on it, are you really thankful? (10)
- Detailed reference to the story of Adam's creation, the arrogant attitude of Iblis and the consequence of that incident (11-25)
- The progeny of Adam are counseled to be aware of the evil around them, are commanded to ?¢‚Ǩ¬¶
- abstain from fahshaa' /impropriety
- manifest justice
- worship Allah alone
- be upright and pure in faith
- present ourselves in the best manner
- eat of the good things
- not to be wasteful nor excessive
- not to indulge in indecencies, sins, oppression, associating partner with Allah, saying that which you have knowledge about
- be aware that every person/community has a limited time and then we leave the world for a certain accountability (26-34)
- warning about the consequence of rejecting the revelation and opposing the Prophets and glad tidings regarding following the way of prophets (35-43)
- Contrast between heaven and hell (44-53), and the Creator, whom we should call upon in humility, the Sustainer, the Reviver. (54-58)
- The mission of prophets Nuh /Noah, Hud , Saleh /Methuselah, Lut /Lot, Shu'aib /Jethro are discussed as well as their struggle to convey the message to peoples who opposed them. (59-93)
