an-Nisaa' (25-126)
The theme continues to revolve around social life; extending from family life to social relations in general and the interaction between various ideological groups that constitute society.
- The preceding guidelines regarding inheritance, repentance and marriage; like all other divine injunctions, are aimed at benefiting humanity and making things easy (28)
- Exhortation to ?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ engage in lawful trade (29) , avoid wrongfulness (31) , not to be envious nor hateful (32), to resolve marital disputes (34), worship Allah alone, be good to parents; serve the dear ones, the orphans, the needy; excel in good neighborliness, not to be selfish nor showing off (36-37), fulfill obligations through fairness and justice (58), obey Allah and His Messenger and resolve religious disputes by reference to the Qur'an and sunnah /Prophetic example (59).
- Most excellent rank in the estimation of Allah are the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous (64).
- What excuse do we have to abstain from fighting in the cause of Allah for the oppressed who may have none to defend them (75), be cognizant of the good Allah provides and aware of the negatives that we engage in (78-79)
- Know that wherever you are, death will reach you (78), be conscious of your deeds (85), even if it be your greetings (86), and be sensitive to the extent that you do not refer even to a person who says ?¢‚ǨÀú salaam ' to you that ?¢‚Ǩ?ìyou are not a Muslim?¢‚Ǩ¬ù (94).

Together with al-Baqarah, aal-?¢‚ǨÀúImraan is referred to by the Prophet as az-Zahrawaan / the two bright ones. There are four primary discourse in this chapter.
Discourse 1: (1-32) [ Revealed after the Battle of Badr early in the Madinan period of the prophetic mission.]
- Allah is the Knower, Creator and Fashioner (1-3)
- We accept His Guidance, commit ourselves not to deviate therefrom; acknowledging our eventual accountability to Allah (8-9)
- Instruction not to be overcome with the materialism around us (15)
- Exhortation to be of the patient, truthful, humble, generous and repentant (17)
- Recognize Allah's authority, that honor/ 'izzah comes from Allah; Knower of the most apparent and the most hidden (12)
Discourse 2: (33-91) [Revealed around nine years after migration/hijrah at the time of the visit of the Christians of Najran]
- Instruction to follow Prophet ( )
- Honorable reference of Prophet Adam (father of humanity and first Prophet), Nuh /Noah (first Messenger), Ibrahim /Abraham (the patriarch and father of the existing ahlul-kitab /monotheistic traditions), the Family of ?¢‚ǨÀúImran (Moses/Musa, Aaron/Harun and their descendants), Mary/ Maryam (descendant of Aaron/Harun and mother of) Jesus/ 'Isa
- Birth of Mary and the ?¢‚ǨÀúgirl' was born destined for a great mission, to be the mother of the Messiah/ Masih Jesus. [Mary has an entire chapter titled after her in the Qur'an, chapter 20]
- Miraculous birth, unique life of ?¢‚ǨÀúIsa/Jesus and his reiteration that ?¢‚Ǩ?ì your Lord and my Lord is one God?¢‚Ǩ¬ù (45-52)
- Similarity between Adam and Jesus, neither have fathers and neither are divine (59)
- All prophets in essence taught same message, submitted to Allah and that is the only true Religion. (84-85)
